You can create documents in txt format as before. Markdown may be great for lots of people, but I did not buy this software because it is only a markdown editor. With this update, thet removed support for several options in Editor (removed txt and RTF). Just a few minutes ago a new version came out and of course I updated. This morning I bought the iOS version, and also selected RTF for the ditor. I set the Editor to RTF, and tested and I liked it. I bought the Mac version yesterday, and started playing with it. The decription on the App Store starts with "Fast. If I have to buy an app, I need to know that if the developer makes impactful changes there would be some sort of early warning with a transiytion period. The point is this format was offered in the app, then abruptly discarded in update without warning. In reply to developers response: RTF being obsolete in your opinion is not the point. Live Markdown highlighting with code blocks (over 170 languages). Open files in finder work with external editors (changes seamless live sync with UI). Blazing fast and lightweight (working fine with 10k+ files) Elastic two-pane view (vertical and horizontal layout). Markdown markup (files stored on disk as Plaintext). If it evolves like TypeIt4Me has over the years, my review will change to five stars. He has never ignored a question, problem or suggestion when I've written to him, and has always had a solution when I've had a question.Īlthough TapIt4Me isn't perfect (what app is?), it's really good for a 1.0, and I look forward to seeing how it's improved in future updates. The developer also is one of the best I've ever dealt with, very helpful and communicative. Hopefully that will change in a future OS update. (If there is a way, I can't figure it out.) It would also be nice if it would work systemwide on the iPhone as it does on the Mac, but that's not the developer's fault, and this is obviously not the first time that Apple's SDK has limited what can be done in an iPhone app. I wish there was a way to keep them synched so that when I add snippets on the Mac, they automatically get updated in the phone's snippet file (via MobileMe). If one has MobileMe, existing snippets on the Mac can easily be transferred over to TapIt4Me on the iPhone, which is very convenient. I've used TypeIt4Me for years, and can't imagine writing on my Mac without it, so was excited to see a version for the iPhone. ![]() With TypeIt4Me Touch installed on your iPhone or iPad, greetings, common phrases, boilerplate texts, URLs or even large chunks of programming code can all be just a couple of prods away.
